THE HYPNOBIRTH COURSE
Firstly, Congratulations on your pregnancy! if you are here because you would like to feel calmer, more informed, physically & mentally prepared (excited even!) about labour and birth, then this KG Hypnobirthing Course is for you.
Our Hypnobirth course is provided by Katharine Graves Hypnobirthing. KGH are leading teachers in Hypnobirth in the UK. Their parent focused course is designed to reflect the current UK health system and our NHS. KGH also train NHS midwives and student midwives across the country in Hypnobirth techniques, so you can be sure that you are getting consistent care when taking a course with us. As a fully qualified KGH practitioner Leanne will guide you through the birth preparation course. The in-depth training she has undertaken is accredited by The Royal College of Midwives.
The ten hour course will be developed to your needs following a pre course consultation. Using evidence based practice, current studies and guidelines to form an in-depth and complete ante-natal training programme for you and your chosen birth partner.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
What birth choices you have in your area. Where you can choose to birth your baby and how to navigate the healthcare system with confidence.
An understanding of what to expect during the different stages of labour. How will my body birth my baby? What can I do to make sure it is as comfortable and quick as possible? How will I know when labour has started?
How can I physically prepare for labour and birth now? How can I reduce tearing or the need to for an episiotomy? You’ll learn techniques including movement, positioning, perineal massage to name a few!
An understanding of your pain relief options. From holistic methods, positioning and the use of water right through to using gas & air, TENS machines and requesting an epidural. What are the benefits of each? What are the risks? What can I have if I have a home birth? What can I expect if I choose an epidural? We’ll talk about all of your options so you can decide what is best for you and most importantly, on the day - you’ll be able to confidently ask for anything you need.
How to to navigate changes in your pregnancy so that you can make confident choices about your care. We’ll discuss all eventualities including what happens if baby is breech? What happens if I have been told I can’t go to the birth centre? What happens if I go past my ‘due date’? What happens in an induction? What’s a membrane sweep? How can I prepare for a gentle caesarean (Also known as women centred)? What do I do if I am unhappy with my care, do I have a choice? How do I make all of these decisions?
Tools and techniques for your birth partner so they will feel confident in supporting you through pregnancy and labour. They will learn massage techniques to relieve tension and pain, increasing your natural pain relief - endorphins! They will learn how to help you create a safe and calm birth environment and how to protect it. Together, you’ll learn how to ask questions and make decisions together so that your birth partner can confidently advocate your wishes in labour.
You’ll learn about why hormones have such a huge impact on labour and birth. Understanding adrenaline, oxytocin, relaxin and endorphin production so that you can create the right environment for your body to birth your baby.
you’ll learn how to ‘build a nes't’, your safe birth space that can be transported from home to hospital and maintained in that all important car journey!
An understanding of how hypnobirth can support all birth outcomes. As a tool to help your mind clear and your body relax, hypnobirth is incredibly beneficial when you think it might not be - such as during induction of labour and an unplanned caesarean. We’ll look at how to navigate changes using hypnobirth.
You will learn and practice deep relaxation techniques so that you can reduce anxiety and stress in pregnancy. Creating a toolbox of breathing techniques, affirmations, visualisations, aromatherapy use, massage and movement to release fears. These will be your game changing techniques that you’ll take with you in to labour and birth!
An understanding of how to break cycles of fear, which can establish itself as just a thought, or the unknown, thus creating anxiety, tension and pain. We will discuss your anxieties and fears, breaking them down and reframing them. Giving you a positive outlook on birth so you feel excited and confident.
A look at the postnatal period and what you can expect. How you can make your babies arrival earthside a gentle transition? Ways you can support your own recovery and self care, which is often forgotten about in those early days!
Our 1:1 classes are private and delivered at a pace that suits you. There is no rush to complete the sessions. It’s important you have all the time you need to prepare for your birth.

The full KG HYPNOBIRTH & BIRTH PREPARATION COURSE, taught over ten hours.
Two, one hour follow up sessions. These can be used as relaxation sessions, or to discuss any anxieties that have crept in, or choices you have been asked to consider making.
